Technology Tuesday–Interactive Website

Just recently I was introduced to this website. Although there are few games in each area, it’s worth taking a look at and it’s free!

Who doesn’t like free?

These activities work great on a SMARTboard or interactive whiteboard for whole group or small group instruction or use in the computer lab  or at home for individual learning.

1. Educreations – This app allows you to create easy to understand instructional videos in your classroom.  Download this on your iPad, tablet or use it on your computer. Click on the picture below to go to the website and register for FREE.

Super easy to use! Even my kinder kids can do this!

2. ComicLife – This app allows your kiddos to create comics or comic strips. Check out the samples on the educators page. Even Kinder friendly!

3. Scootpad – Great app that provides standards based practice in all academic areas for Kindergarten to Fifth grade. View the demo by clicking the app below.

4. HMH Readers - HMH Readers features K-6 grade-appropriate non-fiction and fiction texts to reinforce reading skills, promote academic vocabulary acquisition and improve reading fluency and comprehension in young readers. For Windows tablets and iPad.

Have you heard of GoNoodle.com yet? If not, you gotta check it out!
GoNoodle’s engaging brain breaks help teachers channel classroom energy with short interactive breaks that motivate kids.

Its FREE to sign up and use.

However, to access ALL of the brain breaks like these below, there is a cost of $99 annually.

But, if you can’t access YouTube or MyBigCampus, it’s worth a try! Plus, all your brain break activities are all in one place!

ABC Mouse

Did you know ABC Mouse Early Learning Academy is FREE for teachers? Recently, I just signed up all of my kindergarteners as well as my daughter and nephew. I have not learned much about it yet, but it’s a great resource for students who need extra help at home especially since it’s free.
You can get your free account if you’re a teacher as well. If you take a look at the picture below, in the top right corner there is a present. Under the present you will see a link “Schools, Teachers.” Just follow this link, complete the required info, and your account will be active in no time!

Internet Info for Classrooms

Check this out! Great information for all grade levels, common core, technology assistance, tutorials, games for kids, etc.

“In February, 1997, Susan Brooks and Bill Byles began a collaborative effort to extend assistance to fellow teachers. In November of 2000 that project expanded to a web presence known as Internet 4 Classrooms ("i4c"), a free web portal designed to assist anyone who wants to find high-quality, free Internet resources to use in classroom instruction, developing project ideas, reinforcing specific subject matter areas both in the class and at home and even for online technology tutorials. The portal is used by teachers, parents and students of all ages on six of the seven continents (there are not many classrooms in Antarctica) and is available to anyone with an Internet connection. They do not charge a subscription fee.”

Have you heard of this awesome resource? Easily accessible at your school site and PBS approved! You can filter videos by grade level, subject, media type, resource type, etc.

When I return to my class, we will learn about penguins and the Antarctica. Here just a quick preview of what I searched.

My Big Campus

My Big Campus is a web-based social learning network developed for K-12 school districts. Designed with built-in safety features, the service provides a monitored and secure means of providing social media tools in classrooms.

The platform has a Facebook-like user interface, making it recognizable to students and teachers. This familiarity aids in classroom use and encourages collaboration. My Big Campus is specifically designed for K12 education and includes digital classroom tools allowing educators to create and post assignments, build calendars, and utilize assessment tools for quizzes and polls. Students use My Big Campus to collaborate, share resources, and manage their class schedule and assignments.
The My Big Campus Educational Resource Library is a collection of online resources shared among My Big Campus users. The resource library is pre-embedded with educational videos, wikis, documents, and websites; and teachers can add to the library as they come across educational resources online. Educational videos on YouTube can also be entered in the resource library, but the additional links and peripheral images and ads commonly found with YouTube videos are stripped away. In other words, if you have a My Big Campus account, you can login at home to download YouTube videos you cannot view at school. What a great alternative to see those awesome YouTube learning videos that our school servers often nix.
My Big Campus also has a mobile device app for iOS and Android. Check it out at your Google Play store or at the Apple app store.

Technology for the Classroom
