Valentine’s Party

This afternoon I met with my room mom and we decided what we will be serving at our Valentine’s party. This year we will be munching on cupcakes and sipping some milk.

In our class, we love to decorate our own desserts. If you haven’t decided what you’re doing yet and need an idea or free download, then click on the image below.

By the way, this is for approximately 25 children.

Biography.com

I will be teaching about Martin Luther King this week. In an earlier post I listed some MLK resources. But today, I found this awesome video from Biography.com. Although it's above a Kinder's level of comprehension, it's a great way to show real footage video. And, if you have friends who teach older children pass it along. Just click the picture below.

MLK Videos

There are 8 videos in all. The link to the remainder of the videos is below the first video! All awesome. I’m going to upload them to MYBigCampus account to watch at school. To learn more about MyBigCampus accounts, click HERE.

Alphabet Beginning Sounds Booklets ~ 1 Page ea.

This product has now been uploaded to my TPT and TN accounts for FREE!

In a previous post, it may have been misleading that if you “liked” my NEW Facebook page you would receive the product FREE. You can read more about it HERE.

Because this was the case, I have uploaded the product for FREE for a limited time.

I offer my apology to those of you who thought it was misleading. This was my first Giveaway on my blog using a third party entry.

I will still continue to run the Giveaway. If you are the winner and did not get the FREE download before the contest was over, I will still give it away. Thanks for understanding.

ABC BOOK

This products contains 26 total alphabet flip books to help students learn letters and beginning sounds. These 1 page booklets contain simple high frequency words the students become familiar with. It’s also copy friendly! Just one page per child makes a book. They are all black and white so students may color the pictures and highlight the beginning letter / sound in each word.

To make the book, students will trace the gray alphabet letters (upper and lowercase) and color the pictures. They will then cut apart the booklet where the picture of the scissors are located. Cut along all the dotted lines. Finally, students will stack the pictures and staple together creating their booklet.

Pebble Books & More!

I love these books!

Pebble Book Penguins

Welcome to the Pebble series!

If you haven’t had an opportunity to read these, I highly recommend them. This is just a sample above. You can find these books in Scholastic’s Student Book Orders, sometimes. If so, they are a great buy!!! In fact, if you were to order them from the publisher you’ll need to order sets! And, that gets pricey. Once in a while you can find these terrific books on Overstock.com between $3 and $5.00. They go quick though. I have not seen them anywhere else for less.

If you need sets though, visit http://www.capstonepub.com

Here are the best reasons I love them!

1. Our little ones understand the content, at their level!

2. Awesome picture support, at their level!

3. There is a glossary of terms.

4. Inside the back cover there is a list of other books.

FINALLY,

5. I love the website! What am I talking about??? Click on the picture below!

Facthound.com

This website offers a safe way to find websites related to the Pebble books you read to your students!

There are codes in the inside back cover to help you find what topic you’re looking for at age appropriateness for your kiddos! So check them out… they are all researched by the staff at Capstone who publishes the Pebble series.

Martin Luther King Jr. Resources

With only a short time left until we honor Martin Luther King, I have put together a few resources. You may have already seen these but if not, you will probably find them helpful. If you already know about them, pass them along to an educator who may not know of them.
I love BrainPopJr.com
To access any of the videos, you must be a member. However, if you’re not a member, Brainpop always has free videos of the week. Be sure to check it out during this holiday as the movie is usually FREE! BrainPop.com also has a video only it’s geared for second and up. However, I always find it helpful to watch for myself before teaching the mini unit.
MLK BrainPop
Next, I love Nat Geo!
You can find real pictures of MLK, the house he lived in, etc. Check it out my clicking on the picture below. To make your lessons seem more realistic to your little ones, using real pictures always makes an impression.

If you haven’t already signed up for Scholastic information, they send out great ideas every month. You can access Scholastic printables and other information pertaining to MLK at this site. Again, click on the picture below.

Finally, I love these books. They are rated at the top 10 MLK books to read. You can read about each one just by clicking on the picture below.
Last of all, here are some great primary art projects I found on Pinterest via the search bar. If you found other great art projects, leave a message and link here at my blog for others to see.
